Does a routine train trip from Reno to Omaha become life changing? Five passengers are about to find out. Nikki, a young, single mom unknowingly sets it all in motion when she connects with Beth, an older woman whose marriage and life are in trouble. Beth's husband, Bill, a college professor, is oblivious to the fact his wife is on the brink of a mental breakdown. Bill is focused on the seminar he thinks he will be giving in Omaha. God has other plans. Ted Torino, a renowned concert pianist, has always been fascinated with trains. Having just finished a concert in Reno, he isn't sure why he picked Omaha as a destination, but it will soon become clear. Colleen, a widow with seven-year-old twins, wonders if she will ever stop missing her husband. She is on her way to live with her parents until she can support herself and the twins.
