The original title of this in-depth biography of Charles Wesley, one of the fathers of Methodism, is long but descriptive: “The Life of the Rev. Charles Wesley, M. A., Some Time Student of Christ Church, Oxford: Comprising a Review of His Poetry, Sketches of the Rise and Progress of Methodism, with Notices of Contemporary Events and Character.” Eighteen illustrations have been added by the editor, who has also translated Latin phrases and filled in historical background with concise annotations to insure modern readers a smoother reading experience. The text has been re-typeset by a real person in order to be compatible with the technological advantages of the electronic reader.
