Annaleigh McNair's public breakdown years before had embarrassed her arrogant classmate Carl Greene, igniting his campaign to disparage her. Unfortunately, for Annaleigh to follow her dreams of leaving her small town to go to college, she is placed in the same social circles as her bully. The summer before her senior year, Annaleigh discovers a collapsed and dying teenager near the community pool where Carl is lifeguarding.
