A Nameless Punishment

The bleak highway offers safety, a place to escape from regret and shame. He cleans it every day in an attempt to control himself, to escape from trouble and find the only thing that can allow him to live his life. It doesn't offer reconciliation, or repentance. He doesn't ask for any of those. He wants only to be punished.
