Each of us needs money, or in this analogy, water to live on. God is our source and provides a pipeline directly into each one of our homes. Once it reaches our home, each one of us as His steward is responsible to care for that pipeline as it carries the resources need for us to live.
At the end of this pipeline, there are two taps. One is the outlet for the resources we consume for our needs. Out of the other tap flows the resources God has placed into our care to give to others for His purposes.
That is the picture of stewardship. He has called us to be responsible for the care of the pipeline inside of our house as well as how we use the water that He directs through the pipeline.
Unfortunately, some of the decisions we make can damage the pipeline or reduce the flow of water to its intended purpose. As a steward, we must seek to understand how to manage the resources God gives us according to His desires.
