After a failed relationship, and middle age looming on the horizon, Tara Ludington makes yet another job change by accepting a position at the prestigious university in her childhood hometown. Despite feeling restless and stuck, however, Tara continues to solve other people’s problems when presented to her, often with deadly results.
Joyce, upon reading an article depicting her daughter’s recent handiwork in the local paper, plans to intervene in Tara’s life when news of a college co-ed’s murder rattles the peaceful town of Edinton.
Home to a matriarchal secret society rooted in the lives of two young women in the early 1900’s, Edinton is an affluent university town with an unusually low crime rate. When a young woman is discovered murdered in her apartment, the members of Edinton’s Women’s Auxiliary, who have covertly presided over the safety of the community for nearly a century, are anxious to identify the killer. While Chief of Police, Helen Ludington, relies on traditional police work, her niece, Tara, begins her own investigation when her gut tells her the prime suspect may be innocent. Joyce, however, has an ominous feeling there may be more to the murder than her family realizes.
In Fascinating Graces, the murder of a young student belies a deeper threat to the Ludington family, their legacy, and the peaceful community of Edinton.
