Cat's In The Meadow

The college friendship of four very different personalities results in a bond that lasts a lifetime….some of those lifetimes much shorter than others. They dub themselves “Das Herz”, the four separate parts of a heart that beats as one….lub dub, lub dub, lub dub….silenced, one chamber at a time, when they leave school and life pulls them apart. First Will, whose conscience sends him to Vietnam….he never returns. Then Marty, who defiantly Deadheads it to the West Coast and disappears deep into the clouds of smoke she creates. Chaz, who steps out of the closet, becomes a successful attorney, but struggles with that success. And Catlin? Well, with love and hope lost, she retreats to the family farm, hiding behind the dark windbreak that isolates her from the world and becomes her whole existence, until…..one day she doesn’t return from her daily walk to a nearby meadow. The old farm house just may have devoured Catlin McVey’s soul…her body mangled and cold beneath the wheels of the pivot irrigation rig in the prairie grass meadow. But Marty somehow finds her way home and, when she reunites with Chaz, they seek the answers to the mystery of the Cat in the meadow. The heart is a resilient thing, and as long as the most meager spark survives, it may be coaxed to beat again.
