The Vines That Bind

Set in the peaceful Napa Valley and the raucous San Francisco of 1870, The Vines that Bind tells the story of young widow Lucy Chilton McKenzie whose orderly life running her Napa winery is interrupted by the arrival of a half-dead stranger. A night of unexpected passion leaves Lucy feeling disoriented and guilty, but when the stranger awakens with no memory of his past, she sees it as a blessing in disguise. As weeks go by, Lucy struggles with the strong emotions the man continues to evoke, while she and the rest of her “flock” nurse him back to health and come to know the man they call Blackie.

When the appearance of Lucy’s brother Robbie suddenly restores Blackie’s memory of his real life as Nick Blackwell, Robbie’s business partner and victim of a mysterious attack, everyone steps in to help identify the culprits. Lucy reluctantly leaves her rural sanctuary to return to her birthplace in San Francisco with her brother and Nick. There she stumbles upon an illegal conspiracy forcing her to confront old demons of her own in order to save the ones she loves.
