Edna Mae

It’s exquisite how the most ordinary moments are made special merely by spending them with loved ones. It’s even more extraordinary to have that special connection with someone as you go through the growing pains and slowly become your own man. This connection is made more precious when it is during a time when society is quite conscious of propriety and strongly delineating between the black and the white. Edna Mae was black and a most beautiful individual. She was extra special, their symbol of comfort and protection, the quirky and caring soul that mothered them through the years. And oh how nice to relive the funny, wonderful moments, and how uncaring they were of color. They see only the goodness that emanates, and in the end, that is all that matters. In the end, we’re left with the memories of precious moments spent with special people in our lives. And we hold on to them with all our might.
