The Prophetic Element in Modern Art

As we learn the visual language of prophetic art of the last 150 years, we find accelerating promise of three things for the foreseeable future: first, a radical change of focus from outward to inward reality; second, enormous amount of energy to affect and enliven this change; third, as scriptures have been saying for thousands of years: transformations are both possible and urgent. At a time when most people credit it least, transformations of both man and his institutions are already in process.
