Reid Webb at 12 years old became an orphan due to the War Between the States. His father was killed in action at The Battle of Backbone Mountain in 1863 fighting for the Confederacy. Shortly after the end of the war in 1865, his mother passed away. Living in Fort Smith known as “Hell on the Border” was difficult for a young boy.
Taken in and raised by an unlikely pair, May Billing and Dooley Stuart, he made his own way and learned his lessons and what it was to be a man.
Reid left Fort Smith to work the cattle drives with the infamous Charles Goodnight and then returned and became a Deputy U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Arkansas presided over by Isaac Parker “The Hanging Judge”.
He left after two years becoming dissatisfied with things he did as a Marshal. Moving to Arizona, Reid tried to make a new life for himself but an outlaw from his past reappeared to challenge him.
