The Hymn of the Pearl: A Biblical Interpretation

I endeavor to examine the text from a fresh point of view using the related material of the Holy Scripture of the Bible as a backdrop for interpretation and also using life experiences for a certain measure of understanding.
The Hymn of the Pearl is one of sanctification and the transcendence from being an old creation to a new creation. Every step can be related to this process. Of greatest importance is the concept of suffering. The man-child is sent into the kingdom of the world and goes through hardships. The Bible teaches us that if we share in the suffering of God, we shall also share in the glory of God. It is no coincidence that once the pearl is obtained at great sacrifice: The man goes home and is clothed in the robe of glory. As a child he was surrounded by the glories of God in heaven. As a man he returns to embody the glory of God in mankind and share in the glory of God in the heavenly realm.
