Alcoholic and former elementary education teacher Eddie Calgers kills a group of kids on a school bus while he is driving home one afternoon in a violent rainstorm. Unemployed, broke, and depressed, Eddie is drinking a bottle of whiskey to drown away his sorrows when he encounters a very familiar girl – Clara Briggs; one of the girls who died on the school bus.
