Rene Descartes stated, “I think; therefore, I am.” John would say, “I am; therefore, I think.” This unique book of poetry is John’s response to his life experiences, in which he reflects on the life of a son, husband, father, grandfather, athlete, student leader, business manager, Christian church leader, citizen of America and the world, teacher, and avid reader, and is his response to his relationships with the remarkable people he has been privileged to know.
John W. Clawson was born in Nashville, Arkansas, in 1943, and was raised in Silsbee, Texas. He married Bobby Jo Shepherd, of Silsbee, in 1965. He has four children and eleven grandchildren. He has a BA from Lamar University, an MBA from Texas A&M-Commerce, and an administrative certificate from National-Louis University. He has been a business manager for NASA’s Manned Spacecraft Center and in industry on the Apollo, Skylab, Mars Viking Lander, Titan Launch Vehicle, External Tank, CIA and USAF spy planes, and international satellite and ground station programs. He teaches English at Belvidere North High School in Belvidere, Illinois. He wrote the songs for the CD album My Sweetheart Is Sixty. He has served twice as a Mormon bishop and has been active in local and state-wide politics.
