Concepts for Living Adult: Wisdom for Daily Living

In the first few chapters of Proverbs, much is said about wisdom. Proverbs 1:20 – 33, wisdom is personified as a woman who cries aloud in the streets and in the place of concourse before the city gates. She utters stern warnings to those who despise her and scoff at her reproof. This personification of wisdom as a woman speaking is resumed in chapters eight and nine. However, chapters two through seven, the words of wisdom are set forth as words of a father addressed for his sons, and they are also good for adults. Wisdom is pictured as something that must be diligently sought if it is to be secured. Those who trust in the Lord with all their hearts and acknowledge Him in all their ways and keep His commandments will find it.
