Zara the Wolf

Mountain tribes raided Zara's village, kidnapped her and several children, and made them slaves. That should have been her destiny, but Zara refused to be a slave and resisted to the amusement of her captives, who used her as a whipping dog for their youth. But she survived the training designed to cripple or kill her and escaped—a trained warror.
Her challenges were just beginning—learning to be civilized—where royalty rules the land and best avoided. Failing that how to negotiate their unrealistic "requests" concerning the Indians, and a Duke who wants her to investigate a group called the Sirens who can twist one's thoughts with illusions.
Life with the Indians was hard but simple; life with royalty was easy but complex. In a way, they were the same—a contest of survival.
