In the mid-1800s Charles Brace headed a group of reformers to help the poor, street children. This group came to be known as The Children’s Aid Society. Its goal was to take the children off the streets, feed, clothe, and educate them. Once that was accomplished, these children were then moved westward where they were placed with foster parents. In most cases, this was successful. However, sometimes it was not. This is a fictional account of the life of a successful orphan.
Many Government and private social services have reduced the number of street children. However, it is the hope of the author that, for those that remain, that attention be given to their plight.
