The Squatter

In the late 19th Century, settlers from Central Europe came onto the American frontier, where they encountered other settlers and Native Americans. When a mysterious old man appears on an aging Czech settler's homestead, help comes from unlikely volunteers to remove the squatter. Ned Jumper, Arapaho shaman, knows something is not right, and when he enlists a retired physician known only as Doc to help him, they embark on a series of dangerous and supernatural encounters to discover the truth behind the squatter's imposition. It soon becomes clear that the appearance of the squatter is no coincidence, and that violent troubles for the Czech man not only have a history but are about to get worse. The resulting events bring into focus a mixing of cultural worlds, the mythic folklore of Bohemia and the animistic practices of the Indians. As these worlds become melded together, there also emerges a clash between generations and the forces of good and evil.
