Unfulfilled by his life, Roy decides to run off and try to join the most anticipated event of the season: Stella's Traveling Carnival. Every week a new town, every day brings new shows and excitement! But will his physical "anomaly" be enough to catch the interest of Stella?

There are strange rumors about the things that happen at Stella's Side Show, her adult-only event where she puts unique individuals on display to perform and show off to an audience intrigued by the unnatural side of life. Every night during the show the performers select one member of the audience to stay. Roy watches the magnificent sword swallow run her lips and tongues over many blades, with a front row seat to show off his incredible strength, and when Bouchella hands the ticket to Roy for him to stay after-hours, he finds out just how seriously the performers take their auditions, and how true those mysterious rumors are.
