At Fort Hood, Texas, the Army's program for field testing seems innocuous enough. The Army has dedicated only obsolete aircraft and over-the-hill soldiers to the sensitive project. Obviously, if things go wrong, the powers that be can write off the old equipment and older warhorses like Colonel Tommy Vickers and Lieutenant Colonel Josh Avery. Avery threatens to retire if his boss and best friend, Vickers, can't provide something worthwhile to entice him to stay in uniform. Vickers promises a legacy to die for.
Vickers delivers more than a little action at the Nevada test site when the experiment turns into combat action on American soil, an experiment gone so wrong Avery may have to kill his friend to survive.
