Riders of the Purple Sage is Grey's best-known novel. Jim Lassiter roams from town to town in search for the man who killed his sister and abducted her little daughter. He ends up taking a job at the ranch belonging to Jane Withersteen. He immediately gets caught up in the ranch's struggle against some crooked officials. Trailing a rustled herd of horses leads him to the rustler's hideout and the missing daughter.
