Norman Douglas was a traveler, outcast, skeptic, observer, and writer. Although this was written in 1911, he keeps the style of a modern day blogger as he travels through Europe - mainly Italy - and records his observations and experiences. He writes about each zone, its legend and lore, which in these parts largely involved Sirens, Mermaid and Mermen, Werewolves, and even Witches. He also speaks of the Vatican and of Serafina. Living an alienated and isolated lifestyle, his travels were often his only companions, and he reported what he found with objective, non-biased connection. If something seemed disturbing, chaotic, or too ritualistic, he merely says so, and moves on in a neutral, journalistic way. His hedonistic point of view and almost sarcastic writing style put him 100 years ahead of his time as he takes you on a guided tour of a world that no longer exists.
We are proud to be the first to present this literary work for the Nook. It includes - where possible - translations on foreign terminology not previously included in this book, and has a glossary of Old English words included in this manuscript but are no longer found in common dictionaries. Also has a biography on the Author!
