A different approach to the comic book superhero genre, Tri: PRIME is the story of an angry kid who allows the influence of comic books, movies, and video games to fuel his disdain for the city he lives in. The primary difference with this storyline, is that it is entirely rooted in the reality of someone taking on the responsibility of a superhero, and what could happen to a person who delves into such potential danger.

Tri: PRIME captures several critical stages in the life of main character Andrew Toben, which lead to his transformation from an average, everyday kid to a dark, angry, quasi-hero who struggles to bring justice to a city decaying under the influences of crime, desperation and corruption. The build-up which takes place over a 6-year period is intended to show the gradual progression of the character from a frustrated teenager into a reckless vigilante force obsessed with fighting “evil” in the same vein as his fictional heroes. It is a dark and intense storyline, meant as a critique of human behavior and meant to show the cruelty some human beings are capable of.

Andy takes several steps and makes certain decisions that lead to his fighting criminals in the streets of his home, Olde City. And while the stories of many comic book-type heroes begin after the character has already been established, this segment of the storyline starts with the beginning of Andy’s story, and explains how and why he turns into his alter ego, which he gives no specific name or identity.

Additionally, unlike many stories and movies which are driven by dramatic, large-scale, action-packed sequences and action music, Tri: PRIME is characterized often by quiet, and many action and fight sequences which only involve he and one or two assailants in back-alley fights or bar brawls. Also, Andy’s enemies are not on the large-scale of many comic book villains. Rather, he fights street-level drug dealers, thieves, and murderers. As he is a regular person, so are they.
