Courting Misfortune

Only one gentleman holds Maddie’s interest. But Jonathan sees her as nothing more than his best friend’s accident-prone sister, who has never outgrown her unfortunate habit for mishaps. Caught in a compromising situation, Jonathan offers marriage, but Maddie had hoped to receive a proposal arising from genuine feeling. It would be foolish, however, to refuse simply because it had not come about as she had wished. But can he ever come to love a woman plagued by misfortune?
