Mosses From an Old Manse (Annotated)

While living at The Old Manse in Concord, Massachusetts, with his new bride, Sophia Peabody Hawthorne, Nathaniel found inspiration for the stories in this book. It is a collection of tales and short stories that, in true Hawthorne style, take a deeper look into human nature against a back-splash of moral paradox. This is the expanded 1854 version which includes Feathertop, Passages From a Relinquished Work, and Sketches From Memory. Is also includes a biography of the author, and a glossary of Old English words that are used by Hawthorne but no longer found in modern dictionaries.
