If what you do in life makes you who you are, then I would recommend going to war anytime! Of course, that was just one of the things I’ve done in my life, and it only consumed one year of it- yet I feel changed by it.
This book contains stories that I thought would be both interesting and hopefully entertaining, and because of that, - a military rarity. Now I know very well from both first-hand experience and second-hand learning that war is a terrible thing! Nobody wins! People die in war; there’s no way around it. It shouldn’t happen, and it probably wouldn’t if we sent each of the country’s leaders to fight it out amongst themselves, or perhaps they could just have a gentleman’s duel and get it over with! Ten paces, turn, and ha; we won. Let’s go home! But, I decided to put this together because, yes, I thought it would be funny, but also because I wanted to share the camaraderie and pleasantries that happen behind fire.
Stress can bring people together, making lasting friendships and it’s those friendships that make it all survivable.
