Zonita is an orphan. She grew up with questions of her parentage, raised by her religious, wise old grandma Big Belle. Always listening to relatives and neighbors badmouth her mother and not knowing who her father is, she grew up wanting to prove everybody wrong, to make something of herself, be a success and have a wonderful and happy life with the man of her dreams. But fate has different plans for her. Confronted with teenage pregnancy and its stigma, poverty, the censure of her family, and her own personal demons, Zonita struggles to go through them all while trying to have faith in God and trying to believe in herself.
This is a story of a girl’s coming of age while walking the narrow path of Jesus, trusting in his help and guidance.
