Ruined Castles and Phantom Memories

“Ruined Castles and Phantom Memories” is a pictorial edition of artist Marques Vickers photography featuring the remnants and remains of Middle Age castles in southern France within the Languedoc region. The principal fortresses photographed include the Cathar Castles Peyrepertuse, Queribus and Chateau de Thermes and the Abbey of Saint Hilary.

Vickers poetry accompanies the photo survey examining the ravages of time and neglect and the manner in which the landscape ultimately overwhelms the architecture.

Vickers lived in the Languedoc region of France between the years 2005-2009. His artwork and photography have been exhibited internationally.
