Although the United States government contained the uproar, the publicity crushed the agency responsible. Old habits die hard, however, and under a new name the facility returns to its secret underground research.

Two years later, Vanessa Blake's unfulfilled life as a criminal gets turned on its head when she's visited by a mysterious young man named Dontae. Though everything starts to go her way, she eventually finds herself dragged into the controversy between Humans and the Nefas. Not everything is as simple as it may seem, but for Vanessa it might be more than she could ever imagine.
