Ernst Heinrich Philipp August Haeckel (16 Feb 1834 – 9 Aug 1919) was a German biologist, naturalist, philosopher, and more. He invented such terms like stem cell, ecology, phylum etc. He was an advocate of work by Charles Darwin and his ideas of evolution. He drew over one hundred of his own detailed illustrations of discovered species, wrote sever work on philosophy, like Die Welträtsel and Freedom in Science and Teaching.
