John, who narrates the story, is Henry's eleven-year old son. He is the son of a multi-millionaire and has everything, except for the important things in life. Awki, his impoverished Peruvian grandfather comes to Nebraska for a visit and the three embark in a series of adventures that changes them in unexpected ways.
