The Guardian

Recovering from war wounds following service in the Peninsula War, Major Brampton found himself in another war – this time with his brother's self centred widow. His deceased brother had placed total guardianship for his children with his brother, not his wife; and the major was determined to follow his wishes.
An unanticipated inheritance made that part of his life smoother and gave him introduction to a new circle of friends. It also led the confirmed bachelor to romance – and unexpected peril!
