Hope is part of the design of humanity. We were innately created to desire and to be fulfilled. The uncomfortable reality is that hope often hurts, especially when the journey requires waiting in faith and enduring untold disappointments or detours.

Living in the tension of hope deferred requires great courage. Life presents us all with numerous opportunities to pacify desire with temporary substitutes or to kill hope and embrace numbness or bitterness. The wise person will not give up on hope but rather contend for true fulfillment, no matter how long or arduous the wait.

Using the backdrop of her own narrative as a single woman trusting God's plan, Casey wrestles with the concept of hope deferred in light of God's goodness and his promises.
