Duane Burger, a homely soft core porn editor in his 40's, goes on a blind date at Shake's Pizza and gets stood up. In frustration and rage he cracks his car steering wheel while venting in the parking lot and cuts his hand. Duane rushes back into Shakes Pizza to discover the restaurant is being robbed. A shoot out occurs. Duane survives but the robbers don't. After a short stay in the hospital Duane has lost the use of his hand and he his job. With a corrupt insurance investigator on his tail to fabricate a story so the insurance company doesn't have to pay a robbery claim, Duane wins the heart of the girl who stood him up. His new love tells him he has a metamorphosis and that his life line has been alerted in the accident and that he has a new destiny. In a misguided attempt to move forward with his new life Duane steals a gun from a pawn shop and meets his old boss for a fateful showdown.
