Edgar Allan Poe (Jan 19, 1809 – Oct 7, 1849) was an American author, poet, editor, and literary critic, considered part of the American Romantic Movement. Best known for his tales of mystery and the macabre, and is generally considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre.
"The Masque of the Red Death" is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. The story is set at the abbey of the Prince Prospero. Red Death, a horrible plague had forced Prospero and a thousand of noblemen to seek refuge there, leaving the common folk behind. And while the doors of the abbey are shut, people outside keep dying from the plague with nasty deaths. Prince and nobles are safe from the terrors of the plague for the time being. But what power over inevitable do they have?
