Karen, Kyloon, and Me, the authors of this book, want to tell you their story of how they were held captive by just such "emotional monsters." We want to share with you how we found our way through a long and arduous journey, only to discover the hidden and lost parts of our collective soul. Ultimately, you will see we found freedom from self-hatred and rediscovered self-love.

My real name is Karen, but I want you, the reader, to know why I wrote in the third person as, Kyloon. She is very much a part of me. If it had not been for Kyloon, I would not be telling this story. It was because of her courage and desire to be heard that I am able to tell you the rest of the story. Karen has been living in shame, fear, and with all the other monsters mentioned above for too long.
