The book consists of 15 chapters. Chapters 1 and 2 deal with human activities in connection with land degradation and sustainable agriculture. They cover the consequences of human activities (such as deforestation, land degradation and desertification), and the possible ecologization of agriculture. Chapter 3 deals with Head Water Hydrology introducing technologies for headwater flood control; stream bank protection; different methods of measuring precipitation. Chapter 4 deals with methods of estimating design runoff and runoff volume. Chapter 5 details the roles of eco-hydrology in water management including aquaculture, aquaponics and wetland. The method of measuring soil erosion is explained in Chapter 6. Chapter 7 deals with different designing options of open channels for erosion control including the estimation of design peak runoff. Chapter 8 and 9 detail different biological and mechanical methods of erosion control measures, respectively. Chapter 10 discusses different technologies, procedures and methods of controlling gully erosion. Erosion control on different types of non-arable lands are explained in Chapter 11.
