'The Greatest Manace of The South' is a work by William J. Edwards what was published as a a part of 'The Upward Path' collection book.

The work is dedicated to the problem that Edwards considered the most important for the South - the loss of the fertility of the soil. According to his opinion, the technology of farming has not improved. Edwards warns people against gradual reduction in the farm production that will come if nothing is done about the problem.
