John Francis Campbell was a Scottish author, mostly known as a collector of folklore. Inspired by the work of the Grimm brothers and by Scandinavian scholars, John Campbell used his fluent Gaelic to study the Gaelic oral tradition, and published four volumes of collected stories as "Popular Tales of the West Highlands Orally Collected", with a Translation in 1860-1862.
"The Tulman" is a Scottish short story, entered in the "Popular Tales of the West Highlands" collection. The story is about one woman, who goes in the search of a couple of calves, and being caught by bad weather, she finds the shelter beside the knoll.
