A colorful penguin stands out in his black and white world. How would you describe him? Brave? Weird? Beautiful? Peculiar?
Think about that word "peculiar".
A writer named Simon Peter used that word "peculiar" in the Bible when he talked about God's people, the Church. When Peter called the Church "a peculiar people", he meant they were people who belonged exclusively to God; they were people who didn't mind being considered different, as long as they pleased Him.
Just like the little penguin on this cover, God's people might look strange to those around them at times. But that's okay! They've been given a new identity as part of God's "forever family". They're supposed to be different!
Since the beginning of time, God has been seeking those who will choose His ways, who will be whole-heartedly His. That's what this little book is about. And if I belong to God – if I'm seeking to please Him with all my being - then you can call me "peculiar" if you want to; I don't mind. If my Master is pleased with me, that's all that matters.
