Flip to any news program on television and a disheartening story angle that always appears is that of gang-related violence and activity in any city. Gangs are on the up rise, turning young men and even women into hardened killing machines.
With his thirty-three years as a juvenile probation officer in Los Angeles County, Reverend Al Hopcus experienced firsthand the gang mentality among those he monitored and realized society needed to wake up to this state of affairs.
The Rosary Boys discusses his crusade to educate Christian readers about gang membership, primarily among Hispanic gangs in the nation, and how it demonstrates the growing control the devil has over people.
This book is about the perception and some of the unknown power that Satan has been granted to be given honor by the gangs with acts of killing, stealing and destroying. They (the gangs) have very little knowledge that they are doing the works of the Devil. The Devil has set up a pattern of destruction that we have been blinded, lack knowledge, lack courage and the workings of fear if you upset the apple cart.
Rev. Al also uses other stories from his testimony, including his sociological background, to go deeper in his discussion, believing that it is not just gang members that are lost but also Christians who may not be active in their prayer lives.
Learning to pray for those they don't know, such as gang members, will re-connect Christians to the main purpose of faith in Jesus: to minister to lost people who need God.
We (Christians) must bring our prayer life, our commands against the Devil and his army to bring peace, save lives, lead salvation to others that are usually not easily led and bring victory in the name of Jesus Christ.
