Harriet Elisabeth Beecher Stowe (Jun 14, 1811 – Jul 1, 1896) was an American author and a member of abolitionists movement. She is mostly known for her novel Uncle Tom's Cabin (1852), devoted to harshness of life of slaves. This novel has a massive social resonance across US and Britain, provoked slavers' wrath in the south and fueled anti-slavery-movements in the north.
The pearl of Orr's Island is a novel by Harriet Beecher Stowe. On its pages a life on the coast of Maine unfolds in its finest in the picturesque community on Orr's Island. Romance and tragedy, youth and oldness, land and sea clash here as the waves keep crushing on the rocks. Air is full with gossips, closets are full with skeletons and plot is full with twist. A brilliantly written and catching reading!
