Harriet Elisabeth Beecher Stowe (Jun 14, 1811 – Jul 1, 1896) was an American author and a member of abolitionists movement. She is mostly known for her novel Uncle Tom's Cabin (1852), devoted to harshness of life of slaves. This novel has a massive social resonance across US and Britain, provoked slavers' wrath in the south and fueled anti-slavery-movements in the north.
Religious Studies, Sketches and Poems is a collection of various works by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Over thirty short pieces are included in this collection. They differ in form and content, but all are connected with single topic – religion. It is a vivid and picturesque insight in to Christianity in general and American Christian culture in particular.
