Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie (1890 – 1976) was an English crime novelist, short story writer, and playwright, best known for detective novels and short story collections that she wrote under her own name, most of which revolve around the investigative work of such characters as Hercule Poirot and Jane Marple.
«The Secret Adversary» is one of numerous works of detective fiction being the second published novel which gained Agatha Christie the incoming popularity and fame. The novel introduces the characters of Tommy and Tuppence who feature in three other Christie novels and one collection of short stories; the five Tommy and Tuppence books span Agatha Christie's writing career. The plot of the story revolves aroud the blackmail and searching of a lost maiden.
