Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) was born in Portland, Maine. He is the second son in a family of eight children. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow graduated from Bowdoin College. After that he studied modern languages in Europe for three years. Then he taught them in Bowdoin. Longfellow wrote many lyric poems. They are full of musicality. Moreover, his works represent stories of mythology and legend.
