Agnes Surriage

Charles Montgomery Skinner (1852-1907) was an American writer who published myths and legends collection books. His dream was to make American folklore heritage more glorious. Skinner worked in a wide range of genres, he worked as a journalist and a playwright.

This short story by Skinner is pierced with the spirit of true American democracy. The main character of the story is Henry Frankland -- a man who has taken a lady of simple origin to his house. It was against the idea of honour for a nobleman to marry a simple woman. But one day an accident occurs that makes him change his mind.
