William Taylor Adams (1822 – 1897), pseudonym Oliver Optic, was a famous academic, author, and a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Adams in whole wrote over 100 books and most of them for a boy audience.
«The Coming Wave» by Oliver Optic is the fourth volume of the Yacht Club Serious and is considered to be independent story including familier characters. All incidents are located on Penebscot Bay and relate largely to boats and yachting, There is a kind of some breezy sailing story with two main characters Leopold Bennington and Stumpy.
