Eleanor Emily Hodgman Porter (December 19, 1868 – May 21, 1920) is a American children's writer and novelist. She was born in Littleton, New Hampshire, studied singing, but then began to write books. Initially, she wrote a books for children. From under her arm came many wonderful works. At the peak of her career, she has achieved great success and took the eighth place among the best novelists of America. The best known of her books have become "Pollyanna" (1913), on which later made a beautiful film.
"Miss Billy" is a great novel by Eleanor Emily Hodgman Porter. Mr. Nelson really wanted his first child was a boy, but when the girl was born, he kept his head and called it Billy. Miss Billy, now 18, orphaned and all alone in the world, takes her lawyer's suggestion to ask her namesake to take her in. Only one little problem - Mr. Henshaw did not know of her existence, and then mistakenly thinks that Billy is a boy! This book was written at the height of the popularity of the author, and therefore, will interesting to all readers.
