Eleanor Emily Hodgman Porter (December 19, 1868 – May 21, 1920) is a American children's writer and novelist. She was born in Littleton, New Hampshire, studied singing, but then began to write books. Initially, she wrote a books for children. From under her arm came many wonderful works. At the peak of her career, she has achieved great success and took the eighth place among the best novelists of America. The best known of her books have become "Pollyanna" (1913), on which later made a beautiful film.
"The Road to Understanding" is a great novel by Eleanor Emily Hodgman Porter. Maybe if Burke Denby don't was extremely spoiled as a child, it would not be so hard to get married Helen Barnett. Mabel, the beautiful and adored wife of John Denby, had died when Burke was four years old, and since that time, life, for Burke, was always overshadowed by the bitterness of defeat. During his life he wrote many great works, which are popular to this day.
