The Final Crisis: Combat in Northern Alsace, January 1945

The book is about the final crisis in Europe in the Second World War. It tells of the second phase, the Alsace phase, of the German winter offensives of 1944-45 that has remained almost unreported in American literature. The book is not presented only as a military history. Instead, the battle and the conditions leading up to it provide the context for a story of America and Americans under stress in the last year--and especially in the last winter--of what General Eisenhower called "The Great Crusade" to free Europe and the world from Hitler's tyranny.
